Sgt: Sunil Rathnayake has been sentenced to death by a Sri Lankan court on alleged war crime during the war again LTTE terrorists. Sgt: Rathnayake and his team has played a key role in the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) division in Sri Lanka Army to neutralise key LTTE terrorist rings and leaders.
However, after many years Sgt: Rathnayake and many other soldiers who were actively involved in destroying terrorist targets are now facing legal actions against them. Sgt: Rathnayake is now sentenced to death by the court.
Ranaviru Fund's intention is by no means challenging the court decision but to provide necessary assistance (legal and otherwise) to Sgt: Rathnayake and his family to legally challenge the decision against him. In this campaign Ranaviru Fund has joined hands with Global Sri Lankan Forum to support those who brought Peace to Sri Lanka after 30 long years.

Update 29th May 2016:
Ranaviru Fund has transferred further £450.00 (Fees £5.00) to support Sunil Rathnayake's legal battle against the verdict given to him. This is a donation from Dr A M Wijesinghe. Enclosed below is the funds transfer confirmation.
Update 16th Dec 2015:
Ranaviru Fund has transferred the first part of funds it has raised in aid for Sgt. Rathnayake to the nominated Bank Account detailed above. Ranaviru Fund was able to collect £585.00 to start with and all of the £585.00 has now been remitted to the Jathika Seva Aramudala (National Services Fund) Bank Account operated at Sampath Bank, Kiribathgoda.
A total of Rs 125,861.00 was remitted to the nominated Bank Account at a rate of £1 = Rs 215.1472. There were no fees paid making this transfer meaning that 100% of the funds that we raised were sent for the reason they were raised for.
